S.O.F.I.A. Hosts Community Forum to Raise Awareness About Domestic Violence

dv-forumTo mark the beginning of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates (S.O.F.I.A.) is offering a free and informational session on October 1st, 2016 from 11 AM – 1 PM. Titled “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” the event will feature guest speakers with expertise in victims services, community outreach, advocacy, and crisis intervention.

Domestic violence affects someone you know. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been in some sort of physical domestic violence interaction. The statistics for emotional and financial abuse are even more dramatic. Join the forum to learn more.

What: A free and open domestic violence awareness event for the community, focusing on survivors of domestic violence and their family and friends.

When: October 1st, 2016 11 AM – 1 PM

Where: The Community Service Center, 11 Pine Street, Montclair, NJ

Who: Anyone interested in learning about how to be supportive of the one in four women in our area affected by domestic violence.
